Aerial photography (RCAHMS 1976 and 1994) has revealed the cropmarks of a sub-circular enclosure 470m NNW of Cantyhall Bridge and overlooking the Canty Burn immediately to the E. The enclosure measures approximately 55m in diameter within a relatively wide ditch (4m) with no apparent entrances (although there are gaps in the cropmark on the E and W sides). At least one oval and two circular marks are visible internally, and a short arc of similarly wide ditch is visible 30m to the SW on a large-scale vertical photograph (OS 75/102/139, flown 1975). A stone circle is recorded in an antiquarian account in this general location (see NT47NW 17). A series of cropmarks including those of a palisaded enclosure and ring-ditches have been recorded scattered across the N half of the same field (NT47NW 33 and NT47NW 34 ).

A curvilinear enclosure has been recorded on near-level ground in cropmark form during aerial survey. Only the cropmark of the ditch on the NW arc is clearly visible and the overall dimensions of the site cannot be established, but it measures at least 30m N and S by about 25m. Faint cropmarking indicates the possibility of internal features.
