Standing Stone, Peat Rig. On the N. edge of Peat Rig, overlooking the head of Peat Sike and some 250 yds W. of the fence that crosses the Rig W. of Newhouse Kip, there is the stump of a standing stone which has lost its upper part and W. face by oblique splitting from above. The fragment now stands 2ft 7 in. high, and is 2ft. 2 in. wide by 1ft thick at the base. What is probably the split-off portion can be seen embedded in the ruins of a turf-built grouse-butt 10ft away to the N.
