NT28NW 2 c. 24 89

On the farm of Kilrie, near Kinghorn, a bronze dagger was found in 1828. It has a central ridge and is ornamented with parallel lines engraved on either side. The dagger is in the Antiquarian Museum, Edinburgh (DJ 21).

J Evans 1881.

The bronze dagger found at Kilrie is 6 1/4" long. Attachment to the handle has been by two rivets.

J Anderson 1886.

The exact provenance of this ogival dagger was not ascertained during fieldwork.

Visited by OS (A C) 25 February 1959.

(Dirk with low butt). Dirk with rounded trapezoidal butt and two rivet-holes with flat rivets and central notch; centre-section bordered by two grooves extending just over half of length of the blade; good dull gold water patina with some smooth dark brown patches; length 15.9cm, width 6.1cm.
