(NT 2691 8714) Glammis Castle (NR) (Site of)

OS 6" map, (1920)

In Glammis Field, on the north side of Kinghorn there are the foundations of a building called Glammis Castle (or Tower), presumably built by the family of that name. It may date to 1542 but had disappeared by 1790.

A Reid 1906.

The site of Glammis Castle, now occupied by Nos. 3-5 Burt Avenue, is a strong natural position overlooking the old town and harbour of Kinghorn.

Visited by OS (W D J) 2 March 1959.
