Above the entrance to St James's Church Hall, John's Place, has been inserted a lintel removed in the first instance from a house in Chapel Lane. In a small panel at the left-hand side there are two sets of initials, T F and A M. A larger panel to the right contains the main inscription in a couplet: THAY ARE WELCVM HEIR THAT/GOD DOIS LOVE AND FEIR 1590.
