Activities

Field Visit (26 November 1928)

Cairn, Caerketton Hil1.

On the crest of Caerketton Hill, immediately to the south of the crags, and at an elevation of over 1500 feet above sea-level, are the very much scattered remains of a cairn. The construction lies partly in the parish of Lasswade and partly in the parish of Colinton. It has quite obviously suffered considerable denudation, the stones having no doubt been taken to build the adjoining dike. What is left of the structure consists of very small stones and has a diameter of approximately 53 feet with an average height of about 5 feet.

RCAHMS 1929, visited 26 November 1928.

OS map: vii S.E. (unnoted).
