Archaeology Notes

NT24SW 74 2002 4006

Aerial photography has revealed the site of what may be a small long barrow or mortuary enclosure in a field about 65m to the W of two standing stones (NT24SW 1). Its sides are defined by a symmetrical arrangement of two opposed pairs of ditches, and the ends are apparently open. It has been plotted as a possible cropmark of a long barrow on a distribution map of long cairns and barrows (RCAHMS 1997, 116, fig. 109).

Information from RCAHMS (ARG) 8 October 1997.
