Archaeology Notes

NT23NW 24 2133 3536.

Built into the wall on the W side of the public road a little S of Castlehill, Manor Vale, is a cup-marked stone. It is a fragment of hard whinstone measuring c. 24" x 18", and bearing 5 cups, nearly equal in size, sharply cut, and in good preservation.

NT 2133 3536. The stone is as described by Christison; it is built into the base of the wall.

These 'cup-marks' are of natural origin; the stone is not an antiquity.
