Archaeology Notes

NT17SE 57 16521 724509

This settlement has been recorded as cropmarks on oblique aerial photography (RCAHMSAP 1984, 1985, 1986, 1989, 2000) lying on gently sloping ground about 470m S of Castle Gogar. It is roughly hexagonal on plan, measuring about 60m in diameter within a ditch about 4m wide which appears to have been dug in a series of straight lengths. Linear cropmarks can be seen within the field surrounding the enclosure. A fort (NT17SE 56) has been recorded immediately to the E.
