Archaeology Notes

NT16NE 5 19 69.

In July 1898, during building operations at Juniper Green (NT 1969), a cinerary urn, two food vessels, and a cist were uncovered. The urns were inverted, while the cist, covered by a large stone and measuring 3'8" x 2'1" x 1'8", contained only bone dust and silt. The urns were donated to the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS Accession nos EA 153 [X.EA 153]; EE 78-9 [X.EE 78; X.EE 79]).

Some six weeks later, another urn was found but it soon disappeared and its whereabouts is not known.
