(NT 1834 6773) St Mungo's Well (NR)

OS 1:1250 map (1973)

St Mungo's Well is near Currie Church.

H Scott 1915

The well (name confirmed) is the centre of a marshy area where a sream issues from a spring. Mr D G Culbert (church elder, 24 Woodland Terrace, Juniper Green) states that it was formerly used as a compensation well, and is mentioned in Currie Kirk Session records for 1872 when the railway was being built. He has no recollection of it ever having been covered.

Information from J Macmahon, Dolphinton Rd, Currie; W Brown, Curriehill Rd, Currie.
