Archaeology Notes

NT15SW 12 c13 51.

A number of finds from Slipperfield are in the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS). They comprise 14 flint implements (Accession nos AA 143-156); an indurated claystone axe (AF 460), all purchased 1899, and a quartzite pebble, with a picked hollow on one face (AM 53), purchased in 1910.

NMS AF 460 has been petrologically attributed to group VI (epidotized intermediate tuff of the Borrowdale Volcanic Series from the Great Langdale and Scafell areas of Cumbria).
