Archaeology Notes

NT14SW 69 102 443

A low causeway 5-6m wide, which may well be the Roman road, may be seen in Corsincon Wood, N of the modern road.

J K St Joseph 1952

Although traces of old roads can be seen in various places W of Lyne, notably just inside the S edge of Corsincon Wood, none of these possesses the cambered mound characteristic of a Roman causeway, and most of them are patently of medieval or later date.

RCAHMS 1967, visited June 1961
