Archaeology Notes

NT14NW 5 1111 4765.

(NT 1111 4763) In 1920 a short cist, containing the bones of a male adult and three small fragments of iron, was found on the summit of Kippit Hill, when preparing the foundations of the monument that now stands there. Although the iron may have been natural iron "pan", a detailed examination of the bones suggested the burial was of Early Iron Age date. Nothing could be seen of the cist in 1962.

J G Callander 1921; RCAHMS 1967, visited 1962

There are no visible remains of the cist and the precise find-spot is unknown.

Visited by OS (IA) 25 September 1972
