Archaeology Notes

NT13SW 9 1192 3315.

(NT 119 331) About 250 yds SW from Coomlees farm steading, in a little plantation is a curved double mound, which appears to have been part of a fort, of which the rest has been destroyed by the plough and the formation of the public road through it.

D Christison 1887.

There is no evidence of a fort in this area. Christison is clearly referring to an old trackway at NT 1192 3315.

Visited by OS (RDL) 16 March 1964 and (IA) 22 August 1972.
