Archaeology Notes

NT13NW 14 112 358.

The New Statistical Account records (NSA 1845), that in the early 19th century a cist containing a skeleton was found on Gallow Knowe (NT 112 358), a natural ridge. No remains of the cist can now be seen.

RCAHMS 1967, visited 1958; Information from R W Feachem notebook No.12, 1958.

No evidence of antiquity on Gallow Knowe, the highest point of which is at NT 1129 3586. There is a slight mound at this position, it is probably natural.

Visited by OS(EGC) 9 June 1964.
