Archaeology Notes

NT07NW 14.01 0023 7722.

Workmen discovered a quantity of human bones at a depth of c 3.5m during the rebuilding of an EW garden boundary wall, c.60m to the S of St Michael's Church. The condition of some of the bones and the depth at which they were found suggests that undisturbed medieval burials relating to the early Church were located. Pottery finds of late medieval or early post-medieval date were recovered from spoil heaps.

W J Lindsay 1985.
