(NT 0494 4805) Castle (NR) (Site of).

OS 6" map (1957)

Murray and Irving state that 'a fortalice of the Scottish tower and peel type with a vaulted lower storey' stood at Hills (now Easthills). Its site was pointed out to the Ordnance Survey Name Book (ONB) compiler by an old person who had a very faint recollection of seeing it about 1810, but he could obtain no further information, and there was no trace of it on the ground.

G V Irving and A Murray 1864; Name Book 1859

Nothing remains of the Tower. The occupier of Easthills confirmed its site.

Visited by OS (JD) 9 June 1955 and (DWR) 7 July 1971.
