Archaeology Notes

NT04NE 31 071 481.

The following artifacts, noted as probably from the Dunsyre area (Dunsyre: NT 071 481) are in the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS): 1 dark chert plano-convex knife - BMA 2440, 1 chert strike-a-light - BMA 2441; 2 chert scrapers - BMA 2442-3; 5 barbed and tanged arrow- heads - BMA 2444-8; 2 leaf-shaped arrowheads - BMA 2449-50; a microlithic chert blade and core - BMA 2451-2; 1 Arran-pitch blade - BMA 2453, 1 chert blade - BMA 2454; and several chert flakes - BMA 2455-6. They were part of a collection made by the late Mr Wilson which was donated in 1962 by W Wilson, Leven, as were the following artifacts, which are noted as part of his flint collection, made in the Dunsyre area, but also in Fife: 1 flint saw - BMA 2457; 2 barbed and tanged arrowheads - BMA 2458-9; 6 leaf-shaped arrowheads BMA 2460-5; scrapers - BMA 2466-2483; flint points - BMA 2485, 2487-92; 1 flint knife - BMA 2486; and several flint flakes- BMA 2493-4.
