(NC 3792 6717) Hut Cirle (NR)

OS 6" map, (1962)

An oval, stone-walled enclosure discovered by the previous field investigator. It measures 6.0m by 5.5m internally within a wall approximately 1.1 m wide and suriving to an average of 0.2m high; no entrance is visible. Although previously classified as a hut circle, certain features put this conclusion into doubt. The enclosure's low-lying loch-side position is unusual for a hut circle; the condition of the wall is similar to that of many of the early modern features in the area and rather weak for a hut circle. If prehistoric cultivation occurred in the area any remains have been destroyed by later rig and furrow.

Revised at 1:10,000.

Visited by OS (J L D) 10 April 1960 and (J B) 24 November 1978.
