Archaeology Notes

NS94NW 5 91 45.

A short cist containing an adult male skelton, the imperfect skull of which is in the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS, Accession no: ET 13) was found on 10th November 1847, during excavations for the Caledonian Railway near Silvermoor (NS 9145). D Rankin 1876; W Turner 1915

Site recorded during an archaeological evaluation conducted on 30 alternative route elements, with a combined length of c84km, for a proposed road linking the M8 near Whitburn, Lothian Region with the M6/M74 near Douglas, Clydesdale District.

An illustrated report will be deposited with the NMRS.
