NC33SE 1 39 31.

There is the site of an ancient iron furnace at Loch Merkland (NC 3931).

A Gunn and J Mackay 1897.

Local enquiries revealed no further information on the location of the site.

Visited by OS (E G C) 27 April 1961.

There is no trace and no local knowledge of an iron furnace at Loch Merkland.

Visited by OS (N K B) 6 June 1980.
