The four enclosures are situated on the more level scarpings of the hill slope. They are of different areas, but are all square or rectangular and are formed by a small bank with inner ditch. They are almost certainly cattle folds. The grass-covered earthwork 'A' is formed of two banks parallel to each other with an intermediate ditch, the total length being 28.0m. At the N end is a circular pit.
Visited by OS (WW) 4 July 1955.
The enclosures are pastoral, but appear not to be earlier than the eighteenth century agricultural activities. Earthwork 'A' is probably a primitive form of sheep-dip associated with the enclosure, or it could be a more modern construction.
Visited by OS (JLD) 21 July 1955.
Geophysical Survey (February 1990)
