OS 6" map (1957)

Gold was discovered some 280 yds W of Glengonnarfoot, on the N side of the Glengonnar Water, about 1843. Its value came to about $75. The mining has been discontinued.

Name Book 1858

In 1593, James VI granted Thomas Foulis a lease of the gold, silver and lead mines of Crawford Moor and Glengonnar for 21 years.

A Brook 1890

No further information was obtained from local enquiries.
