OS 6" map (1912)
A charter is dated from the 'chapel of St Thomas the Martyr, beside the Castle of Crawford' in 1327. This is doubtless to be identified with the chapel of the castle.
Orig Paroch Scot 1851
(Area: NS 954 214) The 'Chapel of the castle' stood near the castle and is mentioned in a deed dated to 1175/8. It was dedicated to Thomas a' Beckett and it is possible that this was a re-dedication of an old foundation. It may have been the private chapel of Swan, the superior of the barony in the 12th century. It may be surmised that it was situated where the steading of the farm of Castle Mains now is.
Clan Lindsay Soc 1924-30
No further information was obtained regarding this chapel. It is sited on a piece of waste ground.

OS 6" map entry would appear to be an error at the 1912 revision, as all the authorities agree that the church ruins at Kirkton (NS92SW 19) are those of St Constantine's. The Ordnance Survey Name Book (ONB) of 1858 describes and names only this church: 'St Constantine's Church (Remains of)'. The site at NS 9523 2107 may have been intended for St Thomas's Chapel.
Information from OS Recorder (JLD) 16 December 1963
The indicated siting falls in a level area overgrown with vegetation; no structural remains are evident. No further information.
