Archaeology Notes

NS92NE 7 c. 96 29.

The parish church of Wandel or Hartside parish stood between the Hartside Burn and the River Clyde (NS 9629) but its remains have long disappeared (G V Irving and A Murray 1864). It was allowed to fall into ruins when the parish was conbined with Lamington in 1608.

H Scott 1915; G Chalmers 1824

No further information was obtained during field investigation. Mr W Yuill (bailiff, resident of 40 years, Hartside Farm, Lamington) has no knowledge of a church in this area, nor has he seen anything of significance in work about Hartside farm.
