(Name NS 9952 1602) Little Clyde on site of Tower (NR)

OS 6" map (1911)

The existing farmhouse is built on the site of a substantial rectangular tower. When the tower was demolished an old sword of very fine steel was found, which was later stolen. (Prob. same sword as ?)

Name Book 1856

(NS 9935 1605) It is a family tradition that this tower stood where the farm midden is now. "I know little about it and have never seen anything of significance there". (R Thompson, farmer, Little Clyde) Nothing was seen of relevance at the point indicated by the farmer. It would seem likely that this was a typical Border tower.
