Archaeology Notes

NS88SE 95 8879 8028

A domestic draw well was uncovered in December 1976 during the formation of a car park at Grahamston Railway Station, Falkirk. It was constructed of dressed sandstone with an internal diameter of 0.82m and was 4.5 to 5.0m deep. Apart from one sherd of fifteenth to sixteenth century pottery, the finds indicated an eighteenth century/nineteenth century date for the well. The well was built over without destruction.

Information from J Sanderson, Falkirk District Museum Service; Mrs L Main, Central Region Planning Department.
