OS 6" map (1912)

The ruins of a fortalice of more than usual size are shown by Forrest (1816) at Dumbraxhill.

G V Irving and A Murray 1864

An old castle once stood upon a portion of the ground now occupied by Dumbraxhill farmsteading. Nothing remains but a single gable of great thickness. Traditionally the date of erection is given as 1400.

Name Book 1856

Inquiry at Dumbraxhill failed to reveal any useful information concerning the site of the Castle. There is no trace of any remains among or near the present farm buildings.
