Archaeology Notes

NS79SE 5 79338 94477

NS 7927 9449. A stone 0.35m x 0.35m x 0.1m thick, set on a concrete base and covered with an iron grille. A plaque attached to the base reads: "The Beheading Stone. Protected by the Public at the instance of the Stirling Natural History and Archaeological Society, 1887."

Published at NS 7933 9447 on OS 25" map (1969); seems to agree with photograph AO/5/51/72.
