Archaeology Notes

NS66NW 4 614 657.

(Area: NS 614 657) A boundary stone stands at the top of Armadale Street, at the edge of the Molendinar Burn. Of granite, it appears modern, inscribed R 75 - 1661 and appears to replace a Royalty Stone with the same inscription (see NS56NE 8) now in the People's Palace Museum, Glasgow (Cowan 1951).

Tierney (information from undated press cutting in OS archaeology office files c. 1935) notes another stone (No. 76) close by, but so deeply buried in the ground that little of it could be seen.

Neither stone was seen during field investigation in 1951.

J Cowan 1951; Visited by OS (F D C) 21 September 1951.
