The parish church of Kilbride, dedicated to St. Bride, was rebuilt in 1774, when the part of the old church which supported the belfry was allowed to remain, and now (1890) serves the purpose of a steeple. The bell was cast in 1590 but was rent by violent ringing about 1689.
