Archaeology Notes

NS57SE 7 c. 598 731.

A worn 'second brass' of Antoninus Pius (138-161) was shown to Macdonald by Mr John Bartholomew of Glenorchard, whose gardener had dug it up.

G Macdonald 1934.

(Area centred NS 5985 7312) The area of the find was indicated on the Field Sheet by Mr Bartholomew, who stated that it had not been found in the garden of the house, but in Balmore Haughs. Though the coin was kept at Glenorchard House, it had been mislaid at the time of visit.

Visited by OS (J F C) 15 February 1954.
