The tower of Whiteford stands on the same (White) Cart as, and below Hawkhead (NS56SW 2, at NS 506 622). The lands and barony of Ralston ( (M) 2, at NS 508 638) lie to the N. The tower gives name to an ancient family of the same surname, now decayed.
