Archaeology Notes

NS55NE 59 560 555

Platform, Barrance. West of the farm house, within the 400ft contour, the angle of a platform built out from the slope to nearly 2m in height at the corner, is evident for 110m on NW and 55m on NE. The farm buildings are built into it, but surface indications suggest a level platform, about 180m square emerging from the slope.

NS 5580 5560 An archaeological evaluation was carried out at Barron's Wood. No archaeological deposits or features pre-dating modern agricultural usage were encountered. A previously noted platform site (NMRS NS55NE 59) in the SE of the development area was established as being natural.
