(NS 5146 3716) Cairn (NR)
OS 6" map (1968)
Five stone coffins were found some years before 1842 beneath a large cairn in Loudoun Park. They contained what appeared to be the dust of human remains and a few stone cutting implements.
NSA 1845 (N MacLeod)
Some stone coffins are said locally to have been found in a field 1150 links NW of Hag Bridge. The number of coffins and date of discovery are unknown.
Name Book 1856
At NS 5146 3716, on a golf course and approximately at the position described, there is a mound standing on a natural knoll. It is not recognisable as a cairn, but according to the greenkeeper, has had many large stones removed from it, and is therefore probably the site referred to in the NSA and ONB.

This turf mound on a golf fairway is unrecognisable as a cairn. Although some stone shows through its landscaped surface, it is not possible to identify any cairn material or differentiate between natural and artificial contours.
