An ancient well about a quarter-mile west of the parish church is known as St Marnock's Well. It is now enclosed in roughstone masonry, scarcely 2 feet deep and little more in diameter. The water is piped away to a nearby filter tank. The tutelary saint of the locality is St. Ronan, but he is confused with St Marnock by the writers of the parish accounts and his name has also been converted to St. Maronock.
Statistical Account (OSA) 1791; J Skene 1886-90; W J Watson 1926; A D Lacaille 1927; J Barrett, nd.
The well consists of a stone-lined pit, 2 feet long by 1 foot wide, and about 1 1/2 feet deep; the spring enters through a pipe on the south side.
