Field Visit (October 1985)

NS43SW 18.00 c. 408 316

NS43SW 18.01 c. 405 316 oar

In the 19th century a possible crannog was noted in the boggy hollow 'just to the southwest' of Craigie Castle; it was described as 'a slight rise in the meadow... mostly composed of stones... ', but the only rise in the bottom of the hollow is at NS 4079 3176, 70m NW of the castle. When the hollow was drained an oar was found.

RCAHMS 1985, visited (SH) October 1985.

(Smith 1 895, 1 29).
