There was a Chapel or Carnel, and an associated Chapel Well, in Coylton parish.

On Cloquhernan, there is a well called the Chapel or Carnell Well. A church or chapel stood near it at the time of the Reformation. John Knox is supposed to have preached there.

No information regarding either the chapel or well was obtained from enquiries at Cloquhairnan (NS 432 174). There are several springs in this area.

A church or chapel is said to have stood near a well called the Chapel or Carnell Well, on Cloquhernan; neither the well, nor any remains of a building can be identified.
