Archaeology Notes

NS40SE 4 4673 0070.

NS 4669 0072. A cairn, known as White Laise and measuring 17m in diameter and 1.6m high on the west. Of small stones, the cairn has been mutilated, the centre being largely hollowed out and a small, oblong structure, apparently an old sheep ree, being built on the north side.

NS 4674 0071 A cairn, generally as described in the previous field report, but measuring 15.0m in diameter. It was not possible to confirm the name locally.

This cairn is situated on a gentle S-facing slope 1.2 km NW of Beach farmhouse; it measures about 13.5m in diameter and 1 .4m in height.
