The battle of Muirdykes was fought on a farm of the same name in the eastern part of Lochwinnoch parish on June 18th 1685. Forces of the Duke of Argyle under the command of Sir John Cochran defeated the forces of James II. The previous owner found several bullets on the site.
Name Book 1856; NSA 1845 (R Smith)
The site of the battle is on the northern slopes of Muirdykes Mount. The present owner of East Muirdykes has never found anything hereabouts.
