NS35NE 20 c. 361 587

A very fine brass cannon with the arms of Scotland and J R S engraved on it, was found many years ago in Castle Semple Loch, where a further six are traditionally said to have been lost.

OSA 1791

A bronze cannon, of French manufacture, is said to have been found in the Loch at Lochwinnoch near the Peel (NS35NE 5) about 1850. It is believed to have been used in 1560 at the siege of Castle Semple (NS36SE 9).
