Archaeology Notes

NS34SE 8 350 405.

There used to be a village of Perceton, doubtless connected with the church (NS34SE 6: at NS 3511 4057). It is styled the "ancient village of Perceton" in a charter of 1456, so it must have had a pretty remote origin.

J Paterson 1847

(NS 350 405) Little is known of the old village of Perceton, other than the charter mentioned by Paterson. It almost certainly existed on the site occupied by the present village, as the mill, church, bridge and smithy still stand close together (I Fairweather, Dreghorn Manse).

Apart from the church, there are no traces of any early architectural details in any of the buildings at Perceton.
