(Centred: NS 3204 0697) A Late Bronze Age hoard, probably dating from about 700 BC, was found by workmen engaged in draining a field on the farm of Dalduff in 1846...Only ONB (1856) states that the discovery was made during the construction of the present building of Dalduff. The hoard was found about 3' below the surface, and consisted of a pot without lid or cover, but with two bronze sword fragments placed over its mouth, and a small hoard of bronzes inside. These comprised 9 socketed axes; 2 cauldron staples and rings; and another slightly flattened ring. 4 of the axes, the sword fragments and the pieces of cauldron are in the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS: Accession nos. DQ 92-98A). The remainder of the hoard is in the possession of James Ferguson of Kilkerran.

Hoard, found on the farm of Dalduff, near Crosshill, on Kilkerran estate by workmen draining a field. The bronzes were about 3 ft deep in a pot, the sword fragments being over its mouth as a cover. The bronzes were carried off by the workmen, but some objects were retrieved by Sir Chrales Ferguson, owner of Kilkerran, and given to the National Museum in 1846. Another axe reputedly from this hoard was given to the Museum by R Munro. In 1970, seven axes and a cauldron-ring, presumably from the hoard, were at Kilkerran House.
