(NS 2669 0219) Cairn (NR) Four Stone Coffins found AD 1820 (NAT)

(No information given in the relevant ONB).

OS 6" map (1911)

A ploughed-down mound of earth and small stones situated on the summit of a rounded hill. It measures 23m in diameter and varies in height from 0.7m on the N to 1.5m on the S.

The cairn has been further spread by ploughing and although retaining its overall diameter now has a maximum height of 1.2m. Its coarse gravel / earth composition shows no special features, and no finds were made in the vicinity.

Cairn Hill, Dalquharran NS 266 021 NS20SE 2

A mound measuring 21m in diameter by 0.9m in height, which is situated on the crest of Cairn Hill about 350m W of the derelict mansion of Dalquharran, is probably a ploughed down cairn; in 1820 four cists were found in it.
