Stone coffins have been found in a field near the Garrison many years ago.

(NS 163 550) Many cists were found before 1807 in a large cairn in the field to the SW of the garden-house within the Garrison grounds. The stones of the cairn were used for building the Garrison.

There is no trace of the cairn in the field behind 'the Garrison' and no information could be obtained locally as to its exact site or of the discovery of the cists.
