A well-known spot, said to be the grave of Meckan, son of Magnus, king of Norway, who was killed in the battle fought at Crudail (NR98SE 1). Some years ago the grave was opened by the proprietor of Ormidale estate, but nothing was found.

Name Book 1870

A plaque engraved on a rock now marks this spot. Doubtful antiquity.
