Not to be confused with Holy Island, Inner Lighthouse (Lamlash Bay Lighthouse: NS 06300 28618), for which see NS02NE 9.00.

This lighthouse was built in 1905, and was the first square lighthouse tower built by the Northern Lighthouse Board. It was electrified and automated in 1977.

Pillar Rock Lighthouse is also known as Holy Island Outer Lighthouse. A shore light, it is situated low down near the S end of the E coast of Arran, and guards the main channel up the Firth of Clyde.
