NR71NW 7 c. 714 194.

A bronze looped and socketed axe was found on Crosshill farm (NR 714 194) in 1866 or 1867. Maximum length is 2 7/8ins and breadth at the cutting edge is 1 7/8ins. It is in Campbeltown Museum.

The axe was seen in Campbeltown Museum. No further information.

Visited by OS (RDL) 8 March 1963.

Classified as Late Bronze Age. The axe is still in Campbeltown Museum.

(Probable small version of Sompting type). Single find. Socketed axe, smooth, light green, fine untrimmed casting seams. Length 101mm, mouth 25 x 26mm, cutting edge 49mm, weight 105mm. Campbeltown Museum.
