OS 6" map, Argyllshire, 2nd ed., (1924)
Limecraigs House has been sub-divided to form a number of separate dwellings. The original lay-out is shown in a drawing of 1757 by Alexander Rowatt, which depicts a dwelling-house of two main storeys and an attic occupying the S side of a small courtyard. The courtyard is open to the N, but incorporates out-buildings along its E and W sides. Additions have subsequently have been made upon three sides of the house, while the out-buildings have been remodelled. The original portion of the house measures about 16.6m from E to W by 6.7m transversely, the masonry being of harled rubble. The existing eaves-course is not original. The lay-out is typical of that adopted for the small laird's house of the early 18th century, and the building evidently dates from this period.
RCAHMS 1971, visited 1967.
